Pair of 19th C. English Cobalt Overlay Decanters

Pair of 19th C. English Cobalt Overlay Decanters

A pair of masterfully cut to clear crystal decanters, made in England from the Midlands ca. 1845 as described and pictured in Chas. Hadjamach's book, "British Glass" (pg.86) The thick clear blanks are overlaid in cobalt blue and cut back with arches and diamonds in an elaborate and technically difficult pattern. The stoppers alone are a work of art and the opening is an eight-pointed star. It is a rare piece and here is a pair! Ca. 1845
