This exceptional 13 piece service exhibits all of the artistic elements of the Aesthetic Movement. Both the fan shaped borders and sizes are unusual and the decoration is both exotic and evocative of the popular Asian influence of the period. The bright gold is applied in raised layers as well as the background, creating a bold contrast to the vibrant polychrome enamels depicting flowers and fruit. Marked Imperial Vienna these date ca. 1880's to 1900, all in excellent condition commensurate with wear. This is ideal for a fish course, desserts and of course canapes/h'ors d'oeuvres. They would also create a vibrant display! The set consists of 12 plates and the one large rectangular platter.
