This a pair of unusually shaped sauce tureens with matching under plates. Made by Davenport, ca. 1850's, they are round rather than oval or elongated with fitted lids, notched with an opening for a ladle or spoon. Subtly decorated in an Imari palette and highlighted in cobalt blue and trimmed with gold, they are elegant and understated. A perfect decorative complement for a table setting or display. Ca. 1850's
